People

Of all our parish resources, the most precious is our people. The congregation of Good Shepherd is diverse, consisting of a dozen different nationalities and races, with persons of every marital status and sexual preference worshiping together in loving harmony. While many members live close to the church, others travel from different parts of Manhattan as well as from other boroughs. All visitors who have been admitted to Communion in their own churches are welcome to share in the Holy Communion.

Friends of the parish are scattered all over the world, as members have relocated and retired. Homecoming Sunday in September finds many of these old friends returning to a joyous celebration year after year.

Members of the parish volunteer to serve as ushers, readers, servers, altar guild and coffee-hour hosts. In addition to our new Rector, there is a part-time salaried staff including an organist-choirmaster, parish administrator and sexton.
